RAL Quality Certification Mark 992/2 for Healthcare Linen - the Hygiene Certificate

Healthcare linen requires particularly high standards of hygiene to protect hospital patients and laundry personnel from potential infection by the linen. In this regard, the RAL Hygiene Certificate RAL GZ 992/2 is applied in the German healthcare system to verify that the treatment carried out is in accordance with the requirements of the Robert Koch Institute for subcontracting linen to external laundries.

RAL Hygiene Certificate for Healthcare linen

In order also to be able to offer hospitals a hygienic alternative to processing linen in-house, in 1986 the German Certification Association for Professional Textile Services extended the RAL Quality Certification Mark for Commercial Linen to include a hygiene certificate.

In addition to process control in compliance with RAL-GZ 992/1, the RAL Quality Certification Mark for Healthcare Linen also indicates compliance with certain hygiene specifications, covering all standard regulations. Only member laundries which have had the RAL Quality Certification Mark for Commercial Linen for more than a year can be awarded the RAL-GZ 992/2 RAL Quality Certification Mark for Healthcare Linen by the German Certification Association for Professional Textile Services, provided they can demonstrate the necessary quality and hygiene standards. Compliance with the requirements is continuously monitored by the independent Research Centre at the Hohenstein
